We're running a free course familiarisation morning on Sunday 19 May 2019 to give you a chance to test the courses. We'll take you out for a guided lap of the bike and/or run routes, then we'll be on hand to answer any questions. Feel free to attend as much of the event as you like: either the bike, or the run, or both. Click here to confirm your attendance.
The aim of this event is to show entrants the course and answer questions as we ride and/or run around it at a leisurely pace. It does not include a swim. It will help familiarise you with race day and ease your concerns about nagging questions such as what to wear, how much kit to pack etc. All of us have had a first race day and we want to make easy and enjoyable for you. The emphasis is a friendly ride around the course, not a race, so please don't worry if you have concerns about keeping the pace.
We'll meet outside the main entrance to the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill at 8am:
The Triangle Leisure Centre
Jane Murray Way (A273)
The event is organised by experienced triathletes from Mid Sussex Triathlon Club who will be able to give advice and guidance if you wish. It's a great opportunity to get some sound advice and help with those pre-race nerves. We like nothing better than talking about triathlons!
On the day
We will have a short introduction, then divide into groups of a similar ability: these groups will ride or run at the pace of the slowest member. It's not a race practice! The approximate timings will be as follows – these will vary by group.
PLEASE NOTE THE NEW TIMES
0800 Arrival & Introduction
0815 Ride groups depart, in different paced groups, led by Mid Sussex Tri Club members
0915 to 0945 Rides return, change, grab refreshments as required.
0945 Race day info:
Transitions: dos and don'ts
1015 Anyone interested can run or cycle the run course. Again, we'll go out in one or multiple groups (depending on take-up) and will be running at a gentle speed so no one gets left behind.
1100 Return to the leisure centre to answer any final questions
We look forward to meeting you!
What should I bring to the event?
If you're cycling, bring a bike in roadworthy condition. Helmets are mandatory: no one will be allowed to ride without one. Wear suitable cycle clothing for the conditions on the day: our recommendation is to wear something with high visibility as we will be cycling on public roads. Please also bring basic tools/spares (ie pump and puncture kit fixed to your bike), just in case.
If you're running, then bring running clothing suitable for the conditions on the day. The run will be on paved surfaces so road shoes are appropriate. Again, our recommendation will be to wear something with high visibility.
Drinks and snacks are also recommended.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
The only requirement is that you are entered into the 2019 Mid Sussex Triathlon
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is plenty of parking at the Triangle.
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Email us: firstname.lastname@example.org
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, this will not be necessary, but we do ask you to sign up in advance if possible.
What if I need to cancel?
You will be able to cancel the ticket through the course familiarisation event website. We ask that you do this as soon as you know that you can not make it, as we need to manage the number of guides for the event.
